Our History

The Jerry Wong International Golf Academy was founded by Jerry Wong, who is an experienced golf instructor and player based in Southern California since the early 1990s. The initial movements coming from JWGA International Academy began in the early 1990s when Jerry Wong began train and led his first generation of elite students. One of his earliest students to gain attention in the American and Asian golf communities was Henry Liao, the 2001 Junior Amateur champion. Additionally, Jerry Wong taught numerous other junior golfers in the region who went on to play college golf at esteemed institutions such as D1 colleges, University of Arizona, UCLA, University of Georgia, Cal State Long Beach, Princeton, Harvard, and many more.

Establishing himself in the Southern California golf community with his teaching philosophy and coaching skills, Wong's students gained international recognition. In 2004, former President of the United States, Bill Clinton, visited Oak Valley Golf Course to play with Wong's student, Henry Liaw, who was making significant waves in the golf community at the time.

Jerry Wong's reputation in the golf industry continued to expand, and his influence reached the professional tour level. In 2000, he worked with the Chinese national team, providing training and coaching. He also worked closely with renowned female golfers, including Yang Hong Mei, who became the first Chinese female player to qualify for the US Open, and Yani Tseng, former world ranked number 1 in Women’s World Golf Ranking.

His active involvement in training the national team and coaching high-ranked players eventually led him to establish the Jerry Wong International Golf Academy in 2002. Since then, the academy has experienced growth and now has over 10 locations worldwide, with its main headquarters situated in Xiamen, China, and Beaumont, CA.

The Jerry Wong International Golf Academy has evolved into a well-established golf school, imparting golf fundamentals and etiquette to students starting from a young age. Moreover, the Academy offers adult golf training, elite golf training, and professional-level training. Currently, Jerry Wong oversees a team of over 50 coaches who cater to more than 200 students globally.

The Jerry Wong International Golf Academy places a strong emphasis on assisting and educating the next generation of golf talents while fostering greater opportunities between Asia and the US through golf. The objective is to help young athletes uncover their hidden talents, develop their fundamentals and skills, and provide them with increased opportunities through the social and cultural connections already established by JWGA International.

With over 20 years of teaching experience and seeing the talents that this next generation possess, Jerry Wong and his team carry a strong passion to develop and grow the next generation of elite golf players, expanding their potential and providing them with more opportunities that can help them in the long run.
